A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
YOU ROCK MUSTANGS!!!
September 2, 2010
Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members,
WOW! Second verse, same as the first! What a great second week of back to school we had! The students and the teachers are off and running and learning is taking place.
Thank you to everyone for cooperating with the new earlier start time. We have worked hard at getting out “the kinks” and trying to get the bus routes down. The children love watching the morning announcements on KMBC so it is critical that they arrive to their classrooms by 7:35 am. We do allow the students to play outdoors in the morning and have supervision beginning at 7:20 a.m.
Kindergarten students are asked to report to the cafeteria for song, dance, and movement activities and then we will walk them to their classes. Parents are welcome to join them in the cafeteria but please remember that we do not allow parents to deliver their students to the classrooms. This was a campus decision that was agreed upon by all of the teachers and staff members of our school.
Our teachers have a short amount of time to arrive and prepare to begin the day for your children. Please respect their time by following our school expectations. We are also working on teaching our wonderful children independence and self responsibility. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this!
We are also asking that parents not interrupt class time for delivering items and/or messages. The school has agreed this year that we will only deliver messages and/or forgotten items to the front office who will then deliver things to the classroom. Please report to the office if you need something delivered to your child. We will no longer put telephone calls through to classrooms during school hours. The office will handle all messages or forward you to the teachers’ telephone message box.
Transportation changes and play date changes will not be relayed if it is not received prior to 2:00 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., the office staff will hand deliver all changes or information. Please make arrangements with your child before sending them to school.
All of these things are an attempt to reduce the number of interruptions to the students’ instruction. Teachers have so much to teach and so many students in their classes that the interruptions were really getting out of control. Thank you for helping us to give your children the best quality education possible!
A friendly reminder that the Eanes Elementary PTO is now in the midst of its annual Underwriting Campaign. Specific information on the campaign can be found on the school website. The money from this campaign comes directly to our school and is used to support field trips, technology, classroom equipment, and miscellaneous items for the school. The money donated through the Underwriting Campaign is a life saver for our school. Any amount that you can donate is GREATLY appreciated!!!
Please remember that we will honor Labor Day on Monday, September 6. There will be no school . . . can you believe it is already September??? Enjoy the three day weekend!
