Dear Eanes Elementary Community,

    It has come to my attention that our Eanes Elementary marquee had a holiday message on it that was inappropriate and offensive to our community members.  I am terribly sorry for this. We pride ourselves in being an inclusive and accepting campus, honoring all of our families and community members, and I see this message did not embody our belief system at Eanes Elementary.

    We have parent volunteers who create and post the messages on the marquee, and the message was not vetted through an approval process at the campus level to ensure appropriateness. I apologize for offending anyone who saw the message and found it upsetting. I personally removed the lettering from the marquee last night upon learning of the message.

    In the future, we will formalize the messaging approval process, and I will personally ensure the inclusivity and appropriateness of all things posted to better  represent our campus and what we value as a community.
