We Can, & We Will Be Somebody Who Makes Everybody Feel Like Somebody at Eanes Elementary!

Dear Eanes Elementary Families,

Welcome back!  We are thrilled to see each and every one of you!  On Tuesday, students came skipping through the gates of campus, full of energy and excitement!  This enthusiasm is certainly contagious, though I'm sure we are all thrilled to have a long weekend to help our bodies ease back into the swing of things now that we're back in school!  It was hard waking up so early after having two weeks to sleep in at home!  We hope you'll enjoy the three-day weekend, and we will see you Tuesday!

With gratitude,

Lesley Ryan

**Social Emotional Learning - Quarter 3 Overview**

We are including some messaging and opportunities from the district and campus level about one of our main goals - SEL - Social Emotional Learning. We hope you take the time to read and explore the links provided.

Social-Awareness and caring for others is the EISD SEL focus for the third nine weeks. Empathy is being able to understand and value someone else's perspective. It's having compassion for others even when they are different.

There are many ways parents can support their children in learning how to be empathic and caring. Our children are watching our behaviors and paying attention to how we are treating others. One way to teach our children acceptance and respect is to model empathetic, caring behavior. "Take an interest in helping others through community outreach [and] bring your kids when appropriate. Get involved in programs that promote diversity" and expose your children "to a wide range of people and cultures".  Talk to your kids about your experiences and let them know tolerance and acceptance are important to you. "Open and honest communication is the best jumping off point for teaching kids about tolerance and empathy."

Lost and Found Information

All items that are in our lost and found will be donated at the end of the day next Friday.  If your child is missing an item, it's likely found its way to our lost and found hallway.  This is located in the hallway between the front office and the 4th grade pod.  Please come claim your items before they are donated!  Thank you!
